Every one an Individual.
Meet the people* who are currently in residence (Updated 4/24)
As a small microsanctuary with a focus on disabled farmed birds, we can only house so many birds in the ethical conditions that meet our standards of care (with no overcrowding and things that can affect quality of life). Disabled, special needs birds require more care and hours of observation from our tiny staff. If you know of a bird in need, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email. You can also private message us via Facebook and Instagram (links at bottom of page). If we don’t have space, we will always assist by providing information, care advice, resources, and sometimes we can even assist with veterinary care costs or help finding foster homes.
(*we use the general “people” wherever possible, to counter the speciesism that is imbedded in the English language.)
In Memoriam
Below, some of the individuals whom we have had the profound honor of caring for. We are thankful for our local veterinarians who really try to work with us to make sure everyone has access to any medical care options that exist. It is impossible to list here the numerous biological and environmental challenges these souls face, due to their over-domestication and commodification, the lack of rights they are afforded, and the cruelty they endure previous to getting here. We fall in love with each and every one of them. Thank you for supporting this work so that more have the option of dignified, loving care.
Others in Memoriam, who we did our best to help but whose time with us
was shortened by the extreme medical challenges they faced:
